Chelsea FC are the first club in the UK to benefit from using ''Super Module'' LED Screens supplied by Visual Technology
The screen is supplied as 9 modules replacing technology which required 108 modules to achieve the same size. Not only is picture quality massively improved through the reduction in the number of mechanical interfaces but, of course, assembly is changed radically and the internal electronics, wiring and connections are all dramatically reduced.
The combination of new ''Super Size'' screen modules, pre-assembly off-site and a self-erecting tower crane, lifting the screen in over the stadium roof, contributed to the whole hardware installation taking less than a day allowing Chelsea to continue their business uninterrupted. The screen was in principle pre-assembled off-site as three triple-module sections. These could then be lifted by a special mobile tower crane over the roof and dropped sequentially into their fitted position on top of the North stand roof. Dimensions: 7.68 x 5.76 metres Area: 44.4 square metres Brightness: 5000 Nits Pixel Pitch: 20mm Resolution: 384 x 288 pixels |
Weighing 3 tons per section and stretching the lift 30 metres across the roof and over the pitch, mean that most mobile cranes could not be used so we hired a specialist mobile tower crane from Holland for the task
